European Entrepreneurship Colloquium (EEC)

The European Entrepreneurship Colloquium (EEC) is an intensive one week residential programme, specifically designed for European professors and educators seeking to integrate more effective, appropriate and interactive approaches, and practical skills in teaching entrepreneurship. EEC will put a heavy emphasis on the European dimensions of entrepreneurship, interactive entrepreneurship learning approaches and exposure to the real world entrepreneurship practices.

The programme is built on the EFER supported Cambridge "Teach-the-Teachers" programme in 2001, the Harvard Business School European Entrepreneurship Colloquium on Participant-Centered Learning (HBS EECPCL) which ran from 2005-2008 and the EEC Maastricht Programme in 2009, co-funded by the Dutch government. EEC 2010-2012, co-funded by the European Commission, will be run in a consortium among EFER, IESE Business School, Warsaw School of Economics, University of Cambridge and Europe Unlimited. The EEC 2010 was hosted by IESE, Barcelona, Spain. EEC 2011 will be hosted by Warsaw School of Economics, Poland and EEC 2012 by Centre for Entrepreneurial Learning, University of Cambridge, UK. Through these programmes, EFER’s current alumni include 370 professors from 169 institutions from 41 European countries.

According to EFER’s recent survey on the progress of alumni in March 2010,
  • Overall, respondents have found EFER’s programmes help them better teach courses/cases and specifically improve case teaching skills
  • Nearly 90% agree that EFER has strengthened their network of entrepreneurship faculty in Europe
  • EFER’s impact on entrepreneurship education at participants’ universities has been strong after their programme attendance
    • About 80% of respondents claim the number of students taking entrepreneurship courses increased
    • Nearly 60% of EFER alumni have started new programmes, courses or other initiatives at their universities
The programme seeks to continue to strengthen entrepreneurship teaching and research among faculty and educators, and to support European universities in the key role they must play in promoting entrepreneurship and innovation. The plan is to have the programme rotate to different locations in Europe.
